The gas that powers suburban homes and businesses may be safer than conventional gas, but that doesn’t mean we should rely on it

By now you’ve probably heard about a new study published in the journal Science.

Researchers at UC Davis and the University of California, Berkeley have found that a combination of natural gas and carbon capture technology (which involves capturing CO 2 and using it to produce electricity) may be the safest option for capturing CO2 from coal-fired power plants.

What’s more, they found that these technologies could reduce emissions from existing power plants by up to 15 percent.
