The pressure in your cooker will rise and fall based on the pressure inside the pressure cooker.
If your gas is at high pressure, you won’t be able to make the gas boil.
You might also want to have a thermometer in the pressure vessel so you can check the pressure as you heat the water.
The only way to prevent the pressure from rising too high is to use a pressure gauge.
You will need a gauge to measure how much pressure is inside your cooker.
